Double Island Point is a remote, iconic sand-bottom point break on the headland in Cooloola / Great Sandy National Park, about 70 km north of Noosa and accessible only by 4WD along the beach (timed around low tide). It’s famous for exceptionally long, peeling rights (sometimes over a kilometre) and is widely regarded as one of Queensland’s longest and most uncrowded waves  a true regional classic, especially for longboarders and intermediate-to-advanced surfers.

The Break Sections
* The sandbanks shift constantly but generally produce long, mellow-to-powerful walls with both rights and the occasional left:
* The Point / Tip (near the lighthouse): The prime zone. Long, peeling rights that can run for hundreds of metres (sometimes a full kilometre) over mixed sand and boulders, offering multiple sections for carving, cruising, and occasional barrels on bigger days.
* Teewah / South side & Beach highway banks: Shifting peaks and sandbars along the exposed beach, delivering hollow bowls and rippable walls when the banks line up.
* Inside / Cove sections: Faster, shallower inside bowls that can throw short tubes or close out harder, depending on the sand.

Best Conditions
* Season: Year round in warm water; most consistent and organised during cyclone season (summer–autumn) and cleaner winter groundswells.
* Swell East to northeast (best on clean east or NE–SE swells).
* Wind: Southwest to west / northwest (offshore).
* Tide: Low to mid (rising often best for shape); works on most tides when the banks are right.
