Batu Bolong is the iconic beach and reef break at the heart of Canggu, Bali, breaking directly in front of the famous temple rock. A soft, consistent left and right setup that produces long, mellow walls, it is one of the best beginner to intermediate and longboard waves on the island. Extremely popular and often crowded.
The Break Sections
* Main peak in front of the temple: The primary zone. Soft, rolling lefts and rights that peel for long distances and are ideal for learning, nose riding and linking turns.
* Old Man’s southern end: A slightly more organised and longer section favoured by longboarders. * Inside / northern flanks: Additional softer peaks closer to shore that remain rideable even when the outer banks are messy or the tide is high.
Best Conditions
* Season: Dry season (April–October) for the most consistent SW groundswells and clean mornings.
* Swell: Southwest to south.
* Wind: Northeast (offshore in the mornings).
* Tide: Mid to high preferred (low tide exposes more reef and can make the inside punchier).
