Kuta Reef is a classic left hand reef break located about 800 m offshore from Kuta Beach in Bali. One of the original reef waves surfed on the island, it produces long, high performance walls and occasional barrels over coral. Intermediate to advanced, with boat access the standard way out.
The Break Sections
* Outer takeoff: Steeper, more critical peak on bigger swells that can throw an early barrel.
* Mid-reef walls: The main working section long, rippable faces ideal for carving and linking turns. * Inside / end section: Can deliver a final hollow section or closeout depending on size and tide; keep speed up to make it through.
Best Conditions
* Season: Dry season (April–October).
* Swell: Southwest to south / west solid size preferred for the best shape.
* Wind: East to southeast offshore trade winds; best early morning or late afternoon.
* Tide: Mid to high (low tide makes the reef dangerously shallow).
