Three Bears is a cluster of three exposed reef breaks on the west side of Cape Naturaliste, north of Yallingup in Western Australia’s Margaret River region. Accessible only by 4WD along Sugar Loaf Road, it offers a choice of peaks that pick up solid SW swell and deliver powerful, high quality waves for intermediate to advanced surfers.

The Break Sections
Three distinct reef peaks sit in a line:
* Papa’s: The outer break. Handles the most size and power, with heavier peaks and longer walls when the swell is solid.
* Mama’s: The middle peak. Known for heavy drops, speedy walls and good left tubes, especially around mid-tide.
* Baby’s:The inner/southern peak. More approachable on smaller to moderate swells, producing spiralling lefts, some rights off the peak, and long rides with barrel sections around head high.

Best Conditions
* Season: Year-round consistency, with autumn and winter delivering the strongest SW groundswells.
* Swell: Southwest best; also works on west to south.
* Wind: East to northeast offshore.
* Tide: Works on most tides; mid-tide often preferred for Mama’s shape.
