Waitpinga Beach is a powerful, exposed beach break on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, just west of Victor Harbor near Newland Head. More consistent and punchy than nearby Middleton, it produces hollow A-frames and fast walls over sandbanks (with some reef influence at the ends). Intermediate to advanced territory thanks to the power, strong rips and shark presence.
The Break Sections
* Main beach peaks: Shifting lefts and rights that can throw hollow barrels and steep, rippable walls when the banks are well formed.
* Headland ends: Longer, more organised walls that peel off the rocky points at either end of the beach on solid SW–S swells.
* Parsons Beach nearby: Similar setup just next door another option with comparable peaks and character.
Best Conditions
* Season: Year-round, with the strongest and most consistent Southern Ocean groundswells in autumn and winter.
* Swell: South-southwest to south / southwest.
* Wind: Northeast to north / northwest (offshore).
* Tide: Works on all tides.
