Uluwatu is one of the world’s most iconic left-hand reef breaks, located on the Bukit Peninsula in Bali, Indonesia. A series of interconnected sections runs along the cliffs below the temple, offering long, high-performance walls and hollow barrels over shallow coral. Intermediate to expert territory and one of Bali’s most consistent and crowded waves.
The Break Sections
* The Peak: The most consistent and popular takeoff zone in front of the cave. Punchy, barrel-prone walls that work across a wide range of tides and sizes.
* Racetracks: Fast, hollow lefts further down the line over very shallow reef. Best at mid tide; becomes dangerous at low.
* Temples / Outside Corner / The Bombie: Temples offers slightly more forgiving walls on smaller days; Outside Corner lights up on bigger swells with long walls; The Bombie is the outer big-wave section for experts only on solid swell.
Best Conditions
* Season: Dry season (April–October), peaking June/August for the strongest and most consistent SW groundswells.
* Swell: Southwest to south / west-southwest.
* Wind: Southeast (offshore trade winds).
* Tide: Mid preferred overall; low for Racetracks and Outside Corner on bigger days, mid to high for The Peak.
