Yallingup is one of the classic and most consistent reef breaks in Western Australia’s Margaret River region, located on the northern Capes coast. The Main Break produces powerful, high quality lefts and rights over reef that wrap into the bay, while nearby peaks offer heavier options. It is a key intermediate to advanced spot with a strong local scene, plus a sheltered lagoon for beginners.

The Break Sections
Several distinct options sit around the bay:
* Main Break (Yallingup Reef): The primary peak. Reliable lefts and rights that peel off the reef headlands long shouldery walls on the left, faster sections on the right. Works across a solid size range and is the regional focal point.
* Rabbits (Rabbit Hill): Just north of the main bay. A hollow, shallow, high performance right that sucks and barrels hard on SW–W swells of 4 ft+. Advanced to expert only.
* Yallingup Lagoon: Inside the bay. A protected, reef-ringed pool that offers soft, manageable waves ideal for beginners and families when the outer reefs are pumping.

Best Conditions
* Season: Autumn through winter (March–September) for the strongest and most consistent SW groundswells.
* Swell: Southwest to west.
* Wind: East to southeast / northeast offshore.
* Tide: Works on most tides; mid often preferred for best shape at the Main Break.
