Airport Lefts is a consistent left-hand reef break just north of Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport runway near Tuban/Kuta. It produces long, workable walls over coral and is one of the more reliable intermediate options in the area, especially when the SE trades blow out other spots. Boat access is the usual way in.
The Break Sections
* Outer peak: The main takeoff zone. Can be shifty on bigger days, offering clean walls that set up the run.
* Mid-reef connection: On mid tide and medium swell the outer and inside sections link for longer, high-speed rides.
* Inside peak: Softer, more makeable walls closer in that work well when the tide fills and the wave splits into separate peaks.
Best Conditions
* Season: Dry season (April–October).
* Swell: Southwest to south / west-southwest.
* Wind: East to southeast (the runway provides useful protection from the trade winds).
* Tide: Mid to high (low tide exposes the reef and is best avoided).
