Balangan is a consistent lefthand reef break on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, just north of Dreamland. It offers fast, long walls that can link into extended rides of 100–300+ metres when the swell and tide align. More forgiving than the pure barrel spots nearby, it suits intermediate to advanced surfers and is rarely flat during the dry season.
The Break Sections
* Outer peak: The main takeoff zone. Steeper walls that set up the long run down the reef.
* Mid-reef walls: The heart of the wave fast, open faces ideal for carving and linking sections.
* Inside / end section: The final stretch that can close out over shallow reef; keep speed up to make it through or kick out early.
Best Conditions
* Season: Dry season (April–October), with the strongest and most consistent SW groundswells June–August.
* Swell: Southwest to south / west-southwest.
* Wind: East to southeast offshore trade winds.
* Tide: Low to mid preferred higher tides can work on bigger swells.
