Point Leo is a popular and consistent reef/point break on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. It offers a selection of peaks that pick up solid Southern Ocean swell, with options ranging from playful rights to steeper reef sections. Suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers and a reliable go to when conditions align.
The Break Sections
* Suicides (main point): The primary right-hand point. Long, workable walls that peel over mixed reef and sand fun and relatively predictable on the right swell.
* Crunchies / Crunchie Point: Nearby peak that can throw faster, more critical sections.
* First Reef & Second Reef: A pair of reef breaks near the SLSC that produce both lefts and rights. Steeper takeoffs and shorter rides, good alternatives when the main point is crowded or maxed.
Best Conditions
* Season: Autumn through winter for the strongest and most consistent SW–S groundswells.
* Swell: Southwest to south / southeast.
* Wind: Northwest to north / west (offshore).
* Tide: Mid to high preferred (low tide can expose the reef and make sections shallow).
